Candide Americana in the New York International Fringe Festival

In the world of shameless self promotion, my new play Candide Americana is being produced in the New York International Fringe Festival by the award-winning Rabbit Hole Ensemble Theatre Company. Here are the dates and times:

Wed August 19 at 6:00 PM
Sat August 22 at Noon
Sun August 23 at 10:15 PM
Fri August 28 at 9:30 PM
Sun August 30 at 4:45 PM

(Note the freakish times. The Fringe does not seat latecomers.)

The play is being performed at Venue #2, which is at The Flamboyan Theatre at CSV Cultural Center, 107 Suffolk St. (F to Delancey and J/M to Essex)

Tickets are $15 and can be gotten through the Fringe or through Rabbit Hole Ensemble.

Here's an official blurb-like description of the play:

Seven actors play 40 characters complete with multiple decapitations, song, and the greatest treasure known to man in this high-energy contemporary re-imagining of Voltaire's classic novel. Provocative yet irresistible, this unlikely love story is a cosmic road trip that will leave you pondering your place in the universe.

If you're in New York City in late August, I highly recommend seeing it. It's an absolute hoot, and of course, more importantly, it's all true.

Freedonia Photo #4

Still continuing to clear out my photos and desk from my life-changing trip to Freedonia and came across this picture. Because of the sophistication of Freedonia's animals, it is not uncommon to see role reversal. For instance, a popular annual event in Freedonia is the Sadie Hawkins National Fair, where cows, dogs, and pigs throughout Freedonia invite human friends to compete in a simple series of events that range from sack races to obedience tests to beauty contests. I took this photo on the first day of the Fair during check-in, when the animals were leading their humans through the entrance gate and getting their numbers. This girl later went on to win the obedience contest.
